Believe, Belong, Behave - God's formula

From Matthew - We go around saying, "What do you want to be?", when we need to be asking, "What is your identity in Christ?" The latter is where Jesus wants our focus. If I could rename the Beatitudes or wrap a word around the idea that means more to me, it would be "Belongings." Because in essence, Jesus is saying those of you who exhibit these attitudes are mine. After believing in Christ we are often asked to behave in a certain way by the "church." Man's formula is: Belong, Behave, Believe. This must grieve God. He can see my heart, man cannot. So His formula is Believe (4:19), Belong (5:1-12), and Behave (5:13-16). What a beautiful and freeing passage of scripture!
